“What the hell did you do!?” Saren shouted over the thundering rain.
She has watched as Oscuro brought down the cave right in front of her. And with Sparra still inside! Forgetting her own discomfort she rushed up to the mountain of fallen stones, her feet sticking in the muck with every step. She grasped one of the slick rocks near the base of the pile with both sets of foretalons and, with quite a bit of effort, pulled it out and away from the entrance. Unfortunately, this also caused more to crumble down, making the effort useless. She quickly gave up on that approach. “Sparra, can you hear me!?” She shouted, hoping her voice could penetrate the rock as well as the downpour. “Are you alright?” She glared at Oscuro, who seemed to be admiring his work. “I don't expect you to help, but don't just sit there and watch.” This post has been edited by Saren on May 6 2009, 02:30 PM |

"I did exactly what she deserved," Ocuro said mildly, just load enough to be heard over the rain which was rapidly soaking through his feathers. He created a magical forcefield above his head to repel the rain, and extended it over Saren as she dug at the mound.
“I don't expect you to help, but don't just sit there and watch.” At these words, Oscuro did just that, and sat on the muddy earth, watching with a slight grin on his face. Ten minutes, thats all it would take. Ten minutes before Sparra would never be seen alive again. Especially with the rate that water was seeping through the earth... A delighted giggle escaped oscuros throat, unusual becaue it was so high, and he clapped his paws together. Nine minutes... -------------------- You think Hell is bad?

Tick-tock, Tick-tock, Sparra thought as she blundered about in the darkness that used to be a cave. Time was slowly passing her by, and no matter how much she wanted it to slow down, it marched ever onwards. However, during what time she lost Sparra had managed to figure out that the area that remained of the cave was not terribly large, just enough for her to rotate about in, and take a couple paces in nearly all directions. This eased her fractured mind, as she felt that it would be easier to find a way out... A large cavern would be much more difficult to feel about in and find a way out. Shame this game could be harder, it'd make it more interesting!
Finding a source of one of the larger streams pouring into the cave, above her and almost centered in the cavern, the gryphoness pushed up at the rocks, and was rewarded with more water pouring in! Despite getting a faceful of water splashing on her face, she kept pushing and shoving at the rocks above her, convinced that this would get her out. It wasn't long before she was rewarded with a sliver of light piercing the darkness, causing Sparra to cackle gleefully. "Ah-HA! Your game's not hard at all Oscuro! All your magics did was slow me down! You think this will kill me?! HA! I'm tougher then that!" she shouted, erratically clawing at the tiny hole she had made, ignoring the unsettling feeling of scratching rocks with her claws. From the outside, it looked like very little had happened in the downpour, for it drowned out both Saren and Sparra's voices. Suddenly however, the top of the pile of rocks caved in further, and a moment later, Sparra's head popped out, a triumphant grin on her face! Blinking a moment before continuing, she again tore into the rocks surrounding her, attempting to enlarge the hole so that she could climb out, cackling gleefully all the while... |

Saren did her best to ignore Oscuro. It wasn't easy, what with him sitting a stone's throw away, giggling like a little fledgling.
What she deserved? I'll tell you what YOU deserve... She supposed she should be at least somewhat grateful that he considered her an ally. But athough she didn't trust him, she couldn't deny that she was grateful to be on the same side as him. He was a powerful force to be sure. That being said, right then with her feathers coated with mud and her talons being chipped on the hard rock, there wasn't a person she hated more in the world then him. His irritating behavior wasn't the biggest problem at the moment though of course, as she hadn't heard anything from Sparra in the several minutes she had been trapped. She had made little progress in that time; the job was much too big for her alone. Which was why she felt a rush of relief wash over her when she heard Sparra's voice pierce throuh the wet air. 'Atta girl. She pulled herself above the pile of stones in time to see Sparra's head dip back into the small hole she had made. Saren began digging up the loose soil as Sparra continued pulling away at it from below. In only a few more minutes the hole was wide enough to see Sparra completely, as well as the drowned cavern below. The faint sparkle of gems on the flooded floor was all that was left of her childhood hideaway. She felt a small pang of regret at the sight, but she was quick to shut it away. Best saved for a better time. A wry smile crossed her face, "A rather nice display that was." She extended her paw down to Sparra, "Here, give me your grip." As Oscuro watched Sparra emerge, he was momentarily frozen in shock, wwhich prevented him interfering as Saren assisted. How on earth did she do that?! It shoud have been-no, it was, impossible!
Oscuro was suddenly filled with a terrible rage that countered the shock and enabled him to move once again. The magical shield he had created dissipated as he lost his grip on his power, and rain poured on his head, blurring his vision with his own sodden feathers, but he still threw himself at Sparra, unfortunately knocking Saren in the process. He paused for barely a heartbeat to check she was okay-she seemed fine, she had just been pushed into the mud-and leapt on Sparras back as she finally pulled herself free from the cave. "Why will you not die!" He snarled, claws raking at the feathers on her sides. He sank his deadly beak into the side of her shoulder, tearing at the flesh and tasting blood, but the wet and the mud caused hi to fall as he overbalanced, and he slipped off of Sparra, instantly rolling away from the sure retaliation. He got again to his feet, breathing heavily, and licked at the drops of blood which poured from his face, down his beak. "This is it then," He growled, pacing slightly side to side. He was no fool, he knew Sparra would attack, but so self assured was he of his strength that it never crossed his mind to run or surrender. Failure was beyond him. -------------------- You think Hell is bad?

Busy as she was scrambling out of the cave, she barely had time to look up before Oscuro's launched his attack on her. Screeching instinctively from the pain shooting up her shoulder, she stumbled back a few paces before seeming to freeze, her eyes locked on him, unwavering. "Why won't I die? Death and I are on friendly terms, you see. My meals are often other gryphons, which pleases death. So you see, Death and I have a deal of sorts, one which often makes it rather... Difficult for me to actually end up dying. Close to death, sure. But die? Not unless I give up my feeding habits."
Sparra made no move to attack Oscuro, and simply chose to stand there in the downpour, her shoulder bleeding, the blood mixing with the rain as it ran off down one of her legs. "Does that answer your question? I won our little game we had. Give it up, you're starting to make me take pity on you... Look at yourself, all covered in mud, like a child! Act your age, you're ruining the perception that dark pride members are evil. Do you really want me to go home and tell them that I met a childish gryph who threw tantrums and was a member of the dark prides? Well?" She let the question hang in the air as she stared down at the muddy Oscuro, her eyes never moving from him, barely blinking... |

Saren didn't even see Oscuro until he was right up to them. The impact he made when he rushed between them was enough to throw off her balance. She lost her foothold on the wet earth and was sent tumbling down the side of the hill. She must have hit her foreleg or twisted it on something on the way down because a sharp pain shot up it when he reached the bottom. She laid in the swelling mud at the base of the hill as she waited for the pain to subside. As it did she slowly pulled herself to her feet, minding her left leg. She looked up to see Sparra and Oscuro facing each other back at the top of the hill, but the rain drowned out anything they said. She attempted to climb back up the slick incline, but only made it a short way before falling again, jolting her leg, and sliding back down. She swore. The slope would be hard enough to climb with four good legs, but it seemed near impossible to her now. She growled to herself in frustration. She hated feeling helpless, but she couldn't see any way back up from where she was. So, slowly, she began making her way back around to the rockier side of the hill...
